History of Centaur Books
Centaur Books is an imprint of Joshua Tree Publishing.
Founded in 1977 in Illinois as The Owl Network, Inc., Joshua Tree Publishing has been in the media and publishing filed for 22 years. With the first edition of the Nevada Media Directory in 1985, Publisher John Paul Owles embarked on a career providing updated, comprehensive media information in the state of Nevada.
As technology became innovation in the book publishing field, Joshua Tree Publishing in 1999 started to help authors publish their books. Today the company has 25 titles in print and has helped countless others start their own publishing companies.
In 1999, the company began offering its Nevada Media Directory as a searchable database over the Internet for subscribers. With nearly 1,600 media contacts online, the online version of the directory keeps subscribers up-to-date with the ever changing Nevada media.
In 2002, the company began providing website design, development, and hosting services to clients. Offering major hosting platforms including team collaboration sites, Joshua Tree Publishing's Owl Network offers a one stop solution for companies. In 2003, the company became a domain registration company so that clients could keep control of the domain registration all in one place.
In 2004, Joshua Tree Publishing return to its root with the opening of a corporate headquarters in the northwest Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois. Down the street from Motorola and surrounded by Fortune 500 companies, Joshua Tree Publishing has been able to offer authors and clients true national coverage for the books and services.
In 2008, Joshua Tree Publishing moved to its present offices in Chicago, next to the Sears Tower (read Willis). With its downtown presence, Joshua Tree Publishing is able to offer state of the art technology and distribution.
